No matter how just the cause, is it right for a foreigner to support and join in the name of &#39;understanding&#39;? Without a deep, lifelong experience of the context such as the locals have, how valuable is this understanding actually going to be to a passer-by? Are domestic issues alleviated or antagonised by international involvement?<br /><br />Personally I usually find myself watching from the sidelines, leaving well before I&#39;ve outstayed my welcome.
